Brown Excavating Ltd. is an independently owned and operated excavation business, specializing in new home construction, residential and commercial construction projects including road/driveway construction, site preparation and septic systems. We serve clients in Halifax Regional Municipality, Hants County and surrounding areas.

Business owner/operator, Jeff Brown has over 25 years experience in the construction industry completing projects of all sizes for residential, commercial and industrial clients. In 2008, J. Brown Excavating Ltd. was established.

The heart of the business is providing quality workmanship and great customer service. Our dedicated crew of construction specialist pay attention to the details and take the time to listen and answer any questions. As it is in any professional environment, we value respect and integrity. We work efficiently and within the agreed budget. We also hold in high regard the safety of everyone on or near our worksites, we are certified through the Nova Scotia Construction Safety Association. We maintain good standing with the Worker’s Compensation Board of Nova Scotia and are fully insured for all aspects of the work we complete.

The owner, Jeff Brown, went out of his way to set us up with a reliable engineer to create the septic plan. That engineer has since verified that the system was installed precisely to his specifications.

Originally we were worried about the aesthetic impact the install would have on our lawn. Jeff’s crew created a rock driveway on our lawn for bringing on the dump truck. This ensured the dump truck didn’t tear up our lawn. When they were finished they removed the rocks and laid top soil down and our lawn looks just as good as it always has.

" Last year I was in need of some work to be done on my property in Cole Harbour. I was lucky and picked J. Brown Excavating.

As good as their word, they came over within a short period of time to hear what I wanted done. After me explaining my landscaping needs, a price was agreed upon. The next week the job was started. They brought in the necessary equipment to level the property along with good topsoil and sod. The job took a day to complete and all aspects that we agreed on were carried out in a professional manner with excellent results. The property was cleaned up before they left.
